I am thrilled to officially announce my candidacy for California State Senate District 40. Since announcing my candidacy, I have received an outpouring of support from local leaders, community organizations, and individuals.

Now serving my second term on the San Marcos City Council, San Marcos is proof that when we work together and prioritize safety, opportunity, and balance – we can achieve incredible things. I am eager to take that same approach to the State Senate and fight for a brighter future for all Californians.

As a San Diego native, I have seen our County change as local control decreases, policies shift, and funding is rerouted. The balanced approach that made San Diego affordable, safe, and desirable in decades past has been lost. It’s time we stopped serving our neighbors bad policies and started serving their needs.

My plan for the future includes:

• Good Governance: Empowering local leaders to invest in the future while serving current needs by providing them with the tools for their community to thrive.

• Tackling Rising Costs: Reducing taxes, building affordable and middle-income housing, and decreasing inflation.

• Supporting Public Safety: Introducing policies that support local law enforcement, advancing the law to ensure district attorneys can prosecute crime, stop repeat offenders, and decrease theft.

• Funding Road Improvement: Updating local roadways, increasing evacuation routes in rural zones, and enforcing traffic laws.

The challenges facing California demand the same forward-thinking leadership that has made San Marcos a model of success. Together, we can bring that same success to Sacramento.

State Senate District 40 is currently represented by Senator Brian Jones, who will term out in 2026 and includes the communities of Rainbow, Fallbrook, Pala, Pala Mesa, Bonsall, Pauma Valley, Ramona, Escondido, San Marcos, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, Poway, University City, Miramar, Sorrento Valley, Scripps Ranch, Santee, Lakeside, Blossom Valley, Alpine, Descanso, Pine Valley, and Mount Laguna.

The primary election for State Senate District 40 will take place on June 2, 2026. The general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
