Escondido Mayor and City Councilmembers Endorse San Marcos Councilmember Ed Musgrove for State Senate District 40
Escondido Mayor Dane White, Councilmember Joe Garcia, Councilmember Christian Garcia, and Councilmember Judy Fitzgerald have officially endorsed Councilmember Ed Musgrove in his bid for State Senate, recognizing his commitment to partnership and support for every member of our community.
Escondido is the largest city by population in State Senate District 40, home to almost 150,000 residents and encompassing an area of 37.3 square miles. In the recent census, 52% of residents identified as Hispanic, contributing to the rich culture and history of the city. The city is an economic powerhouse with the downtown center continuing to grow, attracting visitors from surrounding communities. Escondido is known for their large events including ‘Cruising Grand’ and their annual Street Fair. The city stands as an economic and cultural leader within San Diego County and shares a close partnership with Councilmember Musgrove’s hometown of San Marcos, leading the North County region together.
Escondido Mayor Dane White, first elected in 2022, has led the charge in downtown revitalization, contributing to the recent economic growth of the city. “Councilmember Musgrove has been a longtime partner in the region, working closely with me and our Council to implement common-sense policies that prioritize local control, encourage economic growth, and make our cities safer. He is the representative we need in Sacramento. I am proud to endorse him for the State Senate and look forward to working with him to continue to serve our residents, together,” stated Mayor White.
Escondido Councilmember Joe Garcia, a community pastor and police chaplain, was first elected in 2020. “I am proud to endorse Ed, a longtime friend and supporter for the State Senate. He is a strong public safety advocate that has helped decrease our crime rate while making San Marcos safer. He will continue to support public safety at the state level, partnering with our local communities to ensure we have the necessary resources to protect our residents,” said Garcia.
“Councilmember Musgrove has been a common-sense voice for our region, providing good governance and policies for both of our communities. He will represent our interests, solving the root causes of homelessness while bringing back affordability and housing access for all. I am proud to endorse him for the California State Senate,” stated Councilmember Christian Garcia, first appointed to the Escondido City Council in 2023.
Former law enforcement officer and Escondido Councilmember Judy Fitzgerald, recently elected in 2024 stated, “Ed understands the unique needs of our community, always putting safety first and prioritizing the needs of our first responders. He will be our voice fighting for local control and resources that will ensure our communities continue to thrive.”
